/Weight Loss Fluctuations (9.22.2025 to 9.28.2025)
Readers of this space—and a big thank you to you all—may notice that the message I try to communicate is fairly unchanged from the first post way back in 2016. The reason for that the ketogenic protocol is straightforward and has been around a very long time. Decades, as a matter of fact. I’ve enjoyed sharing my experiences and thoughts and hope that you’ve found a bit of information and entertainment. But there moving stories from people who have changed their health, their weight, and even how they feel about themselves. I’m honored to hear from many such people from around the world. I’m sharing some of them here. If you’d like to share your story, including triumphs, stumbling blocks, or merely a good venting, please feel free to do so. Privacy always respected and protected.
In no particular order, first from Veronika. (I’ve not included my responses to her messages):
Hello-hello-hello! My name is Veronika and I´m writing from Estonia😀 Sadly I am not 18 or even 36. 45 is my age. And more sadly I'm morbidly obese. And my english is quite rusty - sorry. Anyways I found your videos (in Estonia this kind of eating is called LCHF- low carb, high fat, and it's not popular. One lady has her page, but it`s side by side with recommendations to buy different flours and sweets.) "Go keto with Casey" by lucky chance and today is my 12-th day without carbs. Thank You for motivation! 😊
… Hello-hello-hello! I just have to share. My mind is clear, my memory is better, it is easier to walk and I have lost 10 kg. If I understand it correctly, it means 22 lb. Photo 124kg, today 114kg. Thank you for the motivation❤️
… The main reason why I started was fear. Fear of being imprisoned in a wheelchair.
… My legs could no longer carry my body anymore. On July 14th my right leg failed me six times. Move more - eat vegetables doesn't work.I did not want to inject Ozempic. And somehow, thank heaven, I found you.❤️ So starting July 15th my life turned into Keto-life. My favorite food at the moment is smoked pork tongue. No joke🫣
Here’s a message from Jennifer. This shows that we can influence those around us even as we make changes for ourselves:
My husband was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and sleep apnea 7 weeks ago. His doctor put him on metformin, and the sleep lab set him up with a CPAP machine. Instead of taking metformin, he started keto. He has since lost 32 lbs and stopped snoring, and the respirologist he saw yesterday told him he no longer needs to use the CPAP. He has also started checking his blood sugars, and the readings have consistently been on the low side of normal.
The only hiccup has been some very low blood pressure over this last weekend. Thinking maybe the dose of his antihypertensive medication needs to be lowered?
All this progress in only 7 weeks. Keto is amazing!
And …Too-da-loo 🙂💜
Sally shared her story. Our reasons for changing are as varied as we each are:
I thought I had cancer [a while ago] and started Keto. I reversed my diabetes and my severe fatty liver, then I broke my wrist and fell off the wagon. I am an emotional eater and have so many issues with life...stress, my kids, pain, depression, and anxiety. I’ve gained so much more weight in the last year. I started keto again last week (seriously), but I fell off the wagon, and my stress is beyond belief. So yesterday, I threw in the towel and just said I can’t do it. But I am rethinking that choice because of what you said in your video.."Why was this time different for you". So I wanted to thank you. Btw. I’m 320lbs, 5'3 major medical conditions and bedridden depression, and anxiety. I am very low income which, btw the prices of meat are outrageous!!! …
And here’s a note from a someone who illustrates how even an education in medicine doesn’t necessarily prepare anyone for nailing down nutrition for good health:
So here's my story (in case anyone's interested). I've been about 70 to 100# overweight for the past 20-30 years. I'm 57 years old. I was diagnosed with prediabetes about 10 years ago but was in major denial. By the way, I'm an RN so you'd think I know better. In January 2021, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Doc said I had to take Metformin, Ozempic, a second b/p medication, and a statin. Well, I kindly said thank you, left, and threw the scripts away. That day I started looking through YouTube to see what I could do without big pharma. I went low carb that day and never strayed for 9 months. I started getting in some walks and light weight lifting once my body stopped hurting. By August of 2021 (7 months later), my A1C went from 8.7 to 5.0! I lost 60 lbs, got off my b/p med, GERD med, and decreased my anxiety medication dosage. Then, I don't know what happened, but I decided to treat myself one time, which turned into several times a day, and I just couldn't beat the cravings and hunger. I've gained back 50 of those lbs. I don't know what my A1C is currently but I do wear a CGM periodically and my blood sugars are not good (duh). I'm back on the b/p and GERD meds. I finally got my head out of my butt a few days ago, am back to watching videos on YouTube, and just recently found you. I'm amazed already how my hunger has gone way way down. … .there's no doubt I've been using food as entertainment, and old habits are hard to break. However, I proved to myself last year that I can beat so many ailments by following the ketogenic protocol …. I want to get off these meds and stay off of them for good this time. I want to be strong and healthy like you, Casey! I'm so happy to have found you here in the Youtube world. Take care!
And, finally, a message from a gentleman who shows us that things change throughout our lives. And we need to change as well:
This is my first time making a comment, but you have inspired me. I'm 70 now with 50 years of military and government service at this time. Still going strong. I too decided not to take insulin when the doctors wanted me to take it. Insulin helped bring about a heart attack on my mother, who sadly passed away at age 55 in 1991. Our bodies make plenty of insulin.... we're just insensitive to it. My highest KNOWN A1C was 7.2 in 2020. My last test a month ago was 5.2. I had to give up most carbs like you said. I don't miss the cakes, cookies, pies and other sweet stuff my mother proudly made and we ate. When I joined the military in 1972 I was a skinny lad of 118 pounds with a 28 inch neck and 28 inch waist. I had thyroid surgery in 2020, and at that time I weighed 260 pounds and wore size 44 pants. I'm very comfortable in size 36 pants and can get into 34, but a little snug. I want to be around for my family as long as I can. I'm a dad, grand dad and now GREAT GRAND DAD with a 2 month old little girl. THATS MY INSPIRATION to not eat the things I shouldn't. In my office I have people 20 to 30 years younger in poor health, but they eat bagels and donuts they bring in. I say NO THANKS. This is getting longer than I intended, but just wanted to say THANKS for being an inspiration, and it truly IS what we put in our mouths that matter. Take care.....
I hope these accounts inspire you that change is within our grasp. These are a very few of the messages I’ve received. There are so many people who have turned the corner from feeling defeated to feeling victorious, in so many more ways than a number on a scale.
If they can do it, you can can do it.
And if I can do this, for sure you can do it. I promise.
Disclaimer: I’m not a medical doctor, researcher, or Ph.D., but instead, I’ve been fortunate to have had the time and resources to research the ketogenic diet, also known as LCHF (low carb/high fat). The information I share is based solely on my understanding of that research. We are all responsible for our own choices, including what we put in our mouths, and there’s no substitute for each of us checking things out ourselves. And I’m not a medical professional in any way. Go Keto With Casey is not a medical site. “Duh,” you might say. But best to make it clear to all. I welcome questions, comments, and even civil criticism. I’m still learning. So, if you have something to add, go for it.
